After working with the public sector for 7 years, successfully teaching dance to thousands of San Francisco Unified’s most underserved children, being nominated for the SF Mayor’s Teachers of the Year Award, and earning the prestigious Dream Catcher Award in 2012 for inspiring San Francisco’s youth, I founded Artists In The Classroom, a company devoted to cultivating conscious leadership and wellness within individuals and organizations. In 2019, I certified with Search Inside Yourself Leadership Institute (SIYLI) — a non-profit born at Google, devoted to making mindfulness and emotional intelligence practices practical and accessible. I am a member of the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO), the California Dance Education Organization (CDEA), a San Francisco Community Boards certified mediator, an alumna of the Strozzi Institute, Pachamama Alliance, Soul of Money Institute, Spiritrock, Hoffman Institute, and The Conscious Leadership Group, as well an active, embodied participant in the Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness, and Wisdom 2.0 communities. From a young age, in addition to being an avid journaler, I was oriented toward the Contemplative and Somatic. In 2012, after loosing 50 lbs by dramatically cutting down my carbohydrate intake, and steaming a lot of vegetables, I began meditating, and was trained in transcendental meditation through David Lynch Foundations’ Quiet Time Program. I have also walked the Camino de Santiago — an ancient pilgrims’ trail in Northern Spain — three times, and am a proud survivor of trauma. No, there is nothing to be ashamed of in that, and I believe that speaking about it openly will help normalize, and de-stigmatize survivorship. In my free time I enjoy writing, hiking, photography, and spend a large portion of my waking hours contemplating Eudemonics — purposeful living, right action, and the art of happiness. Building on a competitive precision ice skating career as a child, I began dancing and acting at UC San Diego, and in 2008 received a “New and Emerging Artists” sponsorship from Sushi Visual & Performing Arts, for original spoken-word dance-theatre pieces, created and performed at local venues. I also received my Master of Education from UC San Diego that same year, with emphases in arts education, creativity, equitable practices, and inclusion.
